Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
SACHS RCS 184 O7.8 Racing Clutch Disc
Organic clutch disc for modular SACHS RCS 184 racing clutches
The SACHS RCS 184 O7.8 organic clutch disc is developed for modular SACHS RCS 184 multi-plate racing clutches from ZF Motorsport. It combines the 184 mm diameter with 7.8 mm lining thickness and an organic friction lining for easily controllable engagement, controlled power transmission and drivetrain-friendly driving behaviour.
The RCS 184 format offers a practical middle ground between the very compact RCS 140 and the large-format RCS 200. In combination with the organic O7.8 friction lining, it creates a clutch disc for applications where drivability, modulation and harmonious pedal feel are more important than the aggressive response of a sintered metal clutch disc.
Compared with sintered metal and Sinter Pad versions, the organic version engages more smoothly and predictably. This can reduce load peaks in the drivetrain and improves controllability when pulling away, manoeuvring and accelerating out of slow corners.
Depending on the RCS 184 configuration, the SACHS RCS 184 O7.8 organic clutch disc is available with different hub profiles and with medium and long hub lengths. Selection is made to match the intended hub length, the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft and the approved combination in the RCS 184 clutch pack.

Technology
Organic 7.8 mm
The SACHS RCS 184 O7.8 organic clutch disc is designed for controlled power transmission, good modulation and harmonious engagement behaviour. The organic friction lining works more smoothly than sintered metal and is suitable for applications where drivability and material protection are the main priorities.
The 7.8 mm lining thickness offers a solid material reserve for trackday, clubsport, slalom and historic applications. Compared with Sinter Pad clutch discs, the organic version engages less aggressively and enables finer modulation when pulling away and at low speeds.
Thanks to the 184 mm diameter, the clutch system remains more compact and responsive than a large-format 200 mm version. At the same time, the RCS 184 provides more friction surface than smaller 140 mm systems, offering a balanced basis for driver-friendly racing clutches.
Hub & hub length
The SACHS RCS 184 O7.8 organic clutch discs are available with vehicle-specific hub profiles matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. The correct hub profile is essential for accurate fit, clean power transmission and operating reliability in motorsport and performance use.
The hub lengths medium and long are available for this product group. The medium version is listed as RCS 184-O7.8-M-XXX, the long version as RCS 184-O7.8-L-XXX. The XXX acts as a placeholder for the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft or the respective hub profile.
When replacing a worn clutch disc, the existing hub length version of the SACHS RCS 184 clutch must be retained exactly. For new builds, conversions or individual assembly of an RCS 184 clutch pack, only the factory-approved hub length combinations for the respective clutch configuration may be used.
RCS 184 system
As part of the modular SACHS RCS 184 clutch system, the organic clutch disc is combined with approved pressure plates, intermediate plates and clutch covers. The decisive factors are the number of discs, lining thickness, installation height and the correct setup of the entire clutch pack.
The O7.8 version is suitable for RCS 184 clutch solutions where forgiving engagement, reproducible pedal feel and material-friendly power transmission are more important than the maximum aggressiveness of a sintered metal clutch disc.
