Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
Racing Clutch Disc SACHS RCS 140 S3.4
Lightweight sintered metal clutch disc for modular SACHS RCS 140 racing clutches
The SACHS RCS 140 S3.4 sintered metal clutch disc from ZF Motorsport is developed for modular SACHS RCS 140 multi-plate racing clutches. It combines the extremely compact 140 mm diameter with 3.4 mm lining thickness and therefore offers a responsive solution for motorsport applications where low rotating mass, direct power transmission and precise engagement are required.
The S3.4 version is technically positioned between the particularly lightweight S2.6 and the S5.2 and S7.8 versions designed more strongly for wear reserve. Compared with a 2.6 mm clutch disc, it offers more friction material reserve, while still remaining very light and fast in response.
The RCS 140 format is designed for minimum size, low moment of inertia and fast rpm changes. Combined with the 3.4 mm version, it creates a practical variant for sprint use, formula cars, compact touring cars, rally and hill climb vehicles with limited installation space.
Depending on the RCS 140 configuration, the SACHS RCS 140 S3.4 sintered metal clutch disc is available with different hub profiles and with short, medium and long hub lengths. Selection is made to match the intended hub length, the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft and the approved combination in the RCS 140 clutch pack.

Technology
Sintered metal 3.4 mm
The SACHS RCS 140 S3.4 sintered metal clutch disc is designed for fast response, direct power transmission and a low moment of inertia. The sintered friction lining supports clear engagement behaviour and direct feedback in motorsport use.
The 3.4 mm lining thickness increases the material reserve compared with the very thin S2.6 version without fundamentally changing the character of the lightweight RCS 140 system. This makes this variant suitable for applications where fast response and slightly longer service life are required together.
Thanks to the 140 mm diameter, the clutch disc remains particularly compact and lightweight. The S3.4 version is therefore suitable for motorsport vehicles where limited installation space, reduced rotating mass and precise power transmission are decisive.
Hub & hub length
The SACHS RCS 140 S3.4 sintered metal clutch discs are available with vehicle-specific hub profiles matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. The correct hub profile is essential for accurate fit, clean power transmission and operating reliability in motorsport.
The hub lengths short, medium and long are available for this product group. The short version is listed as RCS 140-S3.4-K-XXX, the medium version as RCS 140-S3.4-M-XXX and the long version as RCS 140-S3.4-L-XXX. The XXX acts as a placeholder for the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft or the respective hub profile.
When replacing a worn clutch disc, the existing hub length version of the SACHS RCS 140 clutch must be retained exactly. For new builds, conversions or individual assembly of an RCS 140 clutch pack, only the hub length combinations approved at the factory by ZF Race Engineering for the respective clutch configuration may be used.
RCS 140 system
As part of the modular SACHS RCS 140 clutch system, the clutch disc is combined with approved pressure plates, intermediate plates and clutch covers. The decisive factors are the number of discs, lining thickness, installation height and the correct setup of the entire clutch pack.
The S3.4 version is a lightweight intermediate variant within the RCS 140 sintered metal clutch discs. It is suitable for racing clutches where a very compact design, fast response and slightly higher material reserve than with S2.6 need to be combined.
Quality Made in Germany
ZF Race Engineering has been among the technology leaders in motorsport for years. The combined know-how from top-level racing flows directly into the development of RCS racing clutches. State-of-the-art manufacturing methods, the highest quality standards and motorsport technologies make ZF Motorsport clutches the first choice for maximum performance and reliability - on circuits as well as in rallying, touring and endurance racing.
Applications
Formula & prototypes
Suitable for very compact race cars where small size, low rotating mass and direct power transmission are particularly important.
Sprint & hill climb
The 3.4 mm version is suitable for short, intensive operating windows where fast response and precise engagement need to be combined with slightly more reserve than with S2.6.
Circuit racing / touring cars
Lightweight clutch disc for compact touring car and circuit racing applications with frequent gear changes, direct power transmission and limited installation space.
Rally / rallycross
Direct sintered metal clutch disc for vehicles with changing grip conditions, fast load changes and compact clutch layout.
