SACHS RCS 140 S7.8 Sinter Pad Clutch Disc
Sinter pad clutch disc for modular SACHS RCS 140 racing clutches
The SACHS RCS 140 S7.8 sinter pad clutch disc is developed for modular SACHS RCS 140 multi-plate racing clutches. It combines the compact 140 mm diameter with 7.8 mm lining thickness and high thermal load capacity for demanding motorsport applications.
The RCS 140 format is designed for low rotating mass, fast response and compact installation space. This S7.8 version adds high friction material volume and increased wear reserve to the compact base layout, making it a robust clutch disc with sintered metal friction pads for intensive use.
The 7.8 mm lining thickness supports consistent performance during repeated starts, high friction work and longer load phases. This makes the S7.8 disc especially suitable where a durable, temperature-stable driven plate is required despite the small clutch size.
Depending on the RCS 140 configuration, the SACHS RCS 140 S7.8 clutch disc with sintered metal friction pads is available with different hub profiles as well as the hub lengths medium and long. Selection is made to match the intended hub length, the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft and the approved combination within the RCS 140 clutch pack.

Technology
Sintered metal friction pads 7.8 mm
The SACHS RCS 140 S7.8 sinter pad clutch disc is designed for high friction work, direct power transmission and thermal load capacity in motorsport. The sintered metal friction pads metallically bonded to the carrier plate enable durable friction behaviour at high temperatures and during repeated load changes.
The 7.8 mm lining thickness provides a large wear reserve within the compact RCS 140 assembly. This specification is suited to operating profiles where the small 140 mm clutch format must be combined with extended service life and thermal reliability.
Compared with thinner friction pad versions, the S7.8 focuses on durability over the service period. The disc remains part of a very compact RCS 140 system, but provides significantly more reserve for intensive racing and motorsport conditions.
Hub & hub length
The SACHS RCS 140 S7.8 sinter pad clutch discs are available with vehicle-specific hub profiles matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. The correct hub profile is essential for precise fitment, clean power transmission and operational reliability in motorsport.
For this product group, the hub lengths medium and long are available. The medium version is listed as RCS 140-S7.8-M-XXX, the long version as RCS 140-S7.8-L-XXX. XXX represents the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft or the respective hub profile.
When replacing a worn clutch disc, the existing hub length version of the SACHS RCS 140 clutch must be retained exactly. For new builds, conversions or individual assembly of an RCS 140 clutch pack, only the factory-approved hub length combinations for the respective clutch configuration may be used.
RCS 140 system
As part of the modular SACHS RCS 140 clutch system, the driven plate is combined with approved pressure plates, intermediate plates and clutch covers. The components must be selected to match the number of discs, lining thickness, installation height and the respective RCS 140 configuration.
The combination of compact 140 mm format and 7.8 mm lining thickness provides a robust technical basis for racing clutches where small dimensions, direct response and increased wear reserve are to be combined.
