Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
SACHS Racing Clutch
Opel Adam Cup
Sintered metallic 7.8 mm – vehicle-specific for Opel Adam Cup
For the Opel Adam Cup in one-make and national rally use: the single-plate SACHS RCS 1/184 S7.8 combines a compact 184 mm format with high thermal robustness – ideal for the 1.6 L Ecotec NA engine (~140 hp/160 Nm), Sadev 5-speed sequential gearbox and rally loads on tarmac and gravel.
Vehicle-specific calibration: forged aluminum clutch cover (housing) for low system weight and high stiffness; precise modulation at launch and during shifts, a stable bite point over full special-stage distances, and consistent performance on long rally legs.
The 7.8 mm sinter-pad lining provides a large wear reserve and an effective heat buffer. This reduces local hotspots, keeps the friction window stable and enables repeatable engagement even at high disc temperatures. In this configuration up to 650 Nm are transferable – ample reserve for durable launches, harsh load changes and repeated service cycles.

Advantages
High wear volume
High temperature resistance
Long operational life
Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.
The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.
Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.

Faster Acceleration
If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.
As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

Clutch cover (housing)
High-strength forged aluminum for maximum stiffness at low weight. Geometry supports efficient heat dissipation and stabilizes the clutch pack’s temperature window – built for repeated stage starts, tight hairpins and long road sections in rally operation.
Friction lining
The 7.8 mm sinter-pad disc increases lining mass and heat capacity, lowering hotspots, reducing fade/warp risk and keeping friction stable across multiple stages – for controlled launches on loose surfaces and clean shifts even at high disc temperatures.
Hub spline profile
Supplied with the correct hub spline for the Sadev 5-speed sequential gearbox of the Opel Adam Cup – precisely matched to the input shaft of this model for highest fit accuracy, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability in rally use.
