Organic 7.8 mm, rigid version
The SACHS RCS 1/184 7.8 Organic is a dedicated racing clutch for crisp response and precise, controllable engagement. The organic 7.8 mm friction lining engages smoothly and predictably, reduces driveline shock loads and delivers a calm, repeatable pedal feel – with up to 260 Nm engine torque and a release load of just 2,400 N. Ideal for slalom, historic racing and demanding track day cars with moderate power.
The increased lining thickness provides noticeable wear reserve and keeps the bite point stable across wide temperature and load ranges. The clutch cover (housing) made from high-strength forged aluminium combines low mass with high stiffness and aids efficient heat dissipation - for consistent performance and clean modulation.
The pressure plate is supplied exclusively in high-strength steel. Compared with cast iron, steel withstands mechanical and thermal peaks significantly better and is fully launch-capable - ideal for standing starts, intensive pit stop cycles and repeated full-load use.

Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.
The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.
Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.
Faster Acceleration
If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.
As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

Clutch cover (housing)
The ZF Motorsport SACHS RCS 184 clutch cover is made of high-strength forged aluminium and engineered for maximum stiffness at minimum weight. The specific housing geometry supports efficient heat dissipation and stabilises the clutch pack's temperature window.
A key feature is the extremely wear-resistant, patented aluminium coating. This full-surface hard coating reduces friction and fit wear, protects against corrosion and ensures long service life.
Clutch lining - Organic
Organic friction lining stands for maximum drivability: it builds grip progressively, can be finely modulated and reduces NVH effects (noise/vibration/harshness). The result is a calm, repeatable bite point with precise slip control - ideal for clean launches, traction out of slow corners and consistent lap times.
Thanks to the softer, fibre-reinforced matrix, driveline shock loads are reduced. Gearbox, differential and joints are protected, tyres are stressed less harshly. Within the intended temperature window, the friction level remains stable, wear is evenly distributed, and pedal characteristics stay constant over many cycles - well suited for track days, club sport and endurance where control matters more than maximum launch aggression.
SACHS RCS hub
The ZF Motorsport SACHS RCS 1/184 O7.8 racing clutches are available with different hub profiles precisely matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. This ensures perfect fit, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability in hard competition use.
In addition, hubs are offered in different length variants (short, medium, long). This allows the clutch to be adapted to the available installation space and ensures correct actuation. The modular ZF Motorsport RCS 184 system enables an individually tuned racing clutch with maximum performance, thermal robustness and service life. Installation instructions:
As SACHS RCS clutches have not been developed specifically for a vehicle, but are vehicle-independent, the vehicle must be adapted to the clutch (see PDF documents above). The contour of the flywheel, the position, the travel and the shape of the release mechanism as well as the maximum available installation space must be checked and adapted if necessary.
