difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
Racing Clutch Disc SACHS RCS 140 S5.2
Sinter pad clutch disc for modular SACHS RCS 140 racing clutches
The SACHS RCS 140 S5.2 clutch disc with sintered metal friction pads is developed for modular SACHS RCS 140 multi-plate racing clutches. It combines the very compact 140 mm diameter with 5.2 mm lining thickness, offering a balanced solution for motorsport applications where low rotating mass and a durable friction material reserve need to work together.
The RCS 140 format is designed for fast response, compact installation space and low mass moment of inertia. The S5.2 version adds more material reserve than thinner RCS 140 sintered versions, while remaining more responsive than a 7.8 mm clutch disc.
The 5.2 mm lining thickness is suitable for operating profiles with repeated starts, dynamic load changes and high friction work, while retaining the direct response of the compact clutch system. This positions the RCS 140 S5.2 as a technically versatile variant between maximum agility and increased service life.
Depending on the RCS 140 configuration, the SACHS RCS 140 S5.2 sinter pad clutch disc is available with different hub profiles as well as the hub lengths extra short and long. Selection is made to match the intended hub length, the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft and the approved combination within the RCS 140 clutch pack.

Technology
Sintered metal friction pads 5.2 mm
The SACHS RCS 140 S5.2 sinter pad clutch disc is designed for high friction work, direct power transmission and thermal load capacity in motorsport. The sintered metal friction pads are brazed to the carrier plate and engineered for durable friction behaviour at high temperatures and during repeated load changes.
The 5.2 mm lining thickness offers a practical balance within the compact RCS 140 system: more reserve than thinner sintered versions, but lower rotating mass than a 7.8 mm clutch disc. This keeps the clutch system highly responsive while making it more robust for intensive operating profiles.
Thanks to the combination of 140 mm design and S5.2 specification, this product group is especially suitable for motorsport vehicles where compact packaging, fast shifts and solid thermal reserve are required together.
Hub & hub length
The SACHS RCS 140 S5.2 clutch discs with sintered metal friction pads are available with vehicle-specific hub profiles matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. The correct hub profile is essential for precise fitment, clean power transmission and operational reliability in motorsport.
For this product group, the hub lengths extra short and long are available. The extra-short version is listed as RCS 140-S5.2-E-XXX, the long version as RCS 140-S5.2-L-XXX. XXX represents the ZF gearbox code of the gearbox input shaft or the respective hub profile.
When replacing a worn clutch disc, the existing hub length version of the SACHS RCS 140 clutch must be retained exactly. For new builds, conversions or individual assembly of an RCS 140 clutch pack, only the factory-approved hub length combinations for the respective clutch configuration may be used.
RCS 140 system
As part of the modular SACHS RCS 140 clutch system, the driven plate is combined with approved pressure plates, intermediate plates and clutch covers. The components must be selected to match the number of discs, lining thickness, installation height and the respective RCS 140 configuration.
Depending on the approved clutch setup, the S5.2 version can be used in different multi-plate configurations. This makes it suitable for compact racing clutches where high torque capacity, direct response and a balanced material reserve need to be combined.
Quality Made in Germany
