difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
SACHS Racing Clutch
RCS 3/200 S2.6
Sintered metallic 2.6 mm, rigid hub
The triple-plate SACHS RCS racing clutch with 2.6 mm sintered metallic lining delivers maximum torque capacity with minimal rotating mass. Three friction surfaces raise total transferable load at the same clamp load and friction level, while the thin lining enables ultra-fast response and short shift times - ideal for sprints, qualifying, time attack and high-output cars with very high specific load.
The sintered metallic material remains speed-stable and temperature-stable in its operating window and provides a crisp, direct engagement. Versus thicker linings, the 2.6 mm setup reduces the clutch pack’s moment of inertia - the engine revs more freely, the bite point stays precise and repeatable. At the same time, the 3-plate configuration spreads work across multiple interfaces, lowering thermal load per area and improving launch consistency.
This specification handles up to 2,497 Nm of maximum engine torque, offering serious headroom for high-boost and large-displacement powertrains. Combined with the stiff, weight-optimised RCS housing and steel pressure/intermediate plates, it forms a durable, repeatable system engineered for uncompromising motorsport use.

Advantages
Light
low clutch height
Low mass and inertia
Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.
The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.
Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.

Faster Acceleration
If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.
As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

Technology
Technical data RCS 3/200:
- Max. engine torque [Nm] : 2,497
- Release diameter [mm] : 49

Clutch cover
The SACHS RCS 200 clutch cover is made from high-strength forged aluminium, engineered for maximum stiffness at minimal weight. Its housing geometry supports efficient heat rejection and stabilises the clutch pack’s temperature window.
A key feature is the extremely wear-resistant patented aluminium hard-coat. This full-surface treatment reduces friction/fit wear, protects against corrosion and extends service life.
Friction lining - sintered metallic
The RCS 3/200 uses 2.6 mm on-sintered metallic linings directly bonded to the carrier (no separate pads). This lowers part count and mass, increases pairing stiffness and minimises lining compressibility. The result is a very precise bite point, rapid response and clearly defined engagement.
The small lining thickness reduces the rotating inertia of the clutch pack, letting the engine rev freely and improving transient response. Direct heat transfer into the carrier accelerates heat rejection and enhances repeatability during launch sequences.
SACHS RCS hub
SACHS RCS 3/200 S2.6 racing clutches are available with multiple spline profiles precisely matched to the gearbox input shaft for perfect fit, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability.
Hub lengths are available in short, medium and long to suit packaging and ensure correct actuation. The modular RCS 200 system enables a tailor-made racing clutch with maximum performance, thermal capacity and service life. Standard specification for RCS 3/200 (unless stated otherwise): hub length long-medium-long.

Installation instructions:
As SACHS RCS clutches have not been developed specifically for a vehicle, but are vehicle-independent, the vehicle must be adapted to the clutch (see PDF documents above). The contour of the flywheel, the position, the travel and the shape of the release mechanism as well as the maximum available installation space must be checked and adapted if necessary.
Required information:
When ordering your SACHS RCS clutch, the required profile of the transmission input shaft must be specified. The different profiles offered are listed under „hub profile“.
