Designed to make a
difference

SACHS motorsport clutches from ZF Race Engineering have delivered front-running performance in international racing for decades - always pushing development and redefining what is possible. From the lightest Formula 1 racing clutch to proven multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally, ZF Motorsport technology drives championship-winning cars worldwide. At the same time, SACHS has long been an OE supplier of organic clutches to leading car makers - real-world know-how that flows into every racing clutch system.

SACHS Motorsport Racing Clutch
RCS 2/200 O7.8

Organic 7,8 mm, rigid version

The twin-plate SACHS RCS 2/200 with 7.8 mm organic lining combines high durability with excellent modulation. The organic friction lining engages smoothly and predictably, reduces load spikes in the driveline and delivers a calm, repeatable pedal feel - ideal for slalom, rally and demanding track-day cars.

The increased lining thickness adds wear reserve and stabilises the bite point across many temperature and load cycles within the organic operating window. In this configuration up to 1.122 Nm maximum engine torque is achievable. The housing made from high-strength forged aluminium keeps weight low while providing high stiffness for consistent conditions and supports efficient heat dissipation.

Pressure and intermediate plates are supplied exclusively in high-strength steel. Compared with cast components, steel withstands mechanical and thermal peaks significantly better and is fully launch-proof - ideal for standing starts, intensive pit-stop cycles and repeated full-load use.

Advantages

Easy on the transmission

Soft clutch engagement

Low wear on the flywheel friction surface

Less Mass

One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.

The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.

Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.

Faster Acceleration

If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.

As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

The Technology

Technical data RCS 2/200:

  • Maximum engine torque [Nm] : 1.122
  • Release diameter [mm] : 49
  • Release force [N] : 3.700
  • Release travel [mm] : 5.0 +0.5
  • Mass (weight) [kg] : 4.57
  • Moment of inertia [kgm2] : 0.03004

Clutch cover (housing)

The SACHS RCS 200 clutch cover from ZF Motorsport is made from high-strength forged aluminium and is designed for maximum stiffness at minimum weight. The dedicated housing geometry supports efficient heat dissipation and stabilises the temperature window of the clutch pack.

A key feature is the extremely wear-resistant, patented aluminium coating. This full-surface hard coating reduces friction and fit wear, protects against corrosion and ensures long service life.

Clutch lining - organic

Organic friction lining prioritises drivability: it builds grip progressively, is easy to modulate and lowers NVH effects (noise/vibration/harshness). The result is a calm, repeatable bite point with precise slip control - ideal for clean launches, traction out of slow corners and consistent lap times.

Thanks to the softer, fibre-reinforced matrix, load spikes in the driveline are reduced. Gearbox, differential and joints are protected, tyres are stressed less harshly. Within the intended temperature window the coefficient of friction remains stable, wear is evenly distributed and the pedal characteristic stays consistent over many cycles - predestined for track days, club sport and endurance where control is prioritised over maximum launch aggression.

SACHS RCS hub

SACHS RCS 2/200 O7.8 racing clutches from ZF Motorsport are available with different hub profiles precisely matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. This guarantees maximum fit accuracy, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability in demanding motorsport use.

In addition, hubs are available in different length variants (short, medium, long). This allows the clutch to be adapted optimally to the available installation space and ensures correct actuation. The modular ZF Motorsport RCS 200 system enables a racing clutch tailored to performance, thermal robustness and service life. Standard configuration of the RCS 2/200 clutch (unless otherwise specified): hub length long–long.

Installation instructions:

As SACHS RCS clutches have not been developed specifically for a vehicle, but are vehicle-independent, the vehicle must be adapted to the clutch (see PDF documents above). The contour of the flywheel, the position, the travel and the shape of the release mechanism as well as the maximum available installation space must be checked and adapted if necessary.

Required information:

When ordering your SACHS RCS clutch, the required profile of the transmission input shaft must be specified. The different profiles offered are listed under „hub profile“. If you have any questions about the product, please do not hesitate to contact us via E-Mail or by telephone on +49 (0)40 / 3999 211.
