Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
Clutch Disc
SACHS RCS 184 7.8
Sintered metal 7.8 mm, rigid hub
The SACHS RCS 184 sinter-pad clutch disc delivers high durability with an optimal balance of package size, mass and thermal headroom. At 184 mm diameter, it sits between compact 140 mm discs and 200 mm variants, covering a wide range of use from rally and circuit racing to high-torque endurance cars.
Compared with the smaller RCS 140 discs, the 184 mm version offers markedly higher thermal capacity and wear reserve, keeping performance stable over long stints and extending service life. Versus RCS 200, it benefits from a tighter package, lower rotational inertia and quicker response - ideal where robustness and agility must be balanced, e.g. TCR / touring car and GT sprint.
A key advantage is the generous wear allowance of the 7.8 mm sinter pads. Thinner options like 2.6 mm or 5.2 mm shine with ultra-low inertia and razor-sharp bite, but provide less material reserve. The 7.8 mm setup stays consistent through repeated race starts and long heat cycles, clearly reducing service intervals - a decisive plus in endurance racing.
Sinter pads riveted to the carrier ensure consistent friction and reliable torque transfer under extreme conditions. Temperature spikes are effectively absorbed, reducing fade and disc distortion. The result is a precise bite point and predictable engagement, even under repeated full-load launches.
RCS 184 is the sweet spot for racers needing more thermal security and longevity than 140 mm hardware without sacrificing the compact layout and fast response associated with heavier 200 mm systems.

Advantages at a glance:
High transferable torque
High thermal load capacity
Large wear volume
Low mass and inertia
Highly dirt-resistant
Long service life

Technology
Friction lining - sintered metal
The SACHS RCS 184 7.8 sintered-metal clutch disc from ZF Motorsport is engineered for maximum racing performance. Versus organic linings it withstands higher temperatures, handles higher rpm and is less sensitive to dust and oil.
Its sintered friction material provides aggressive bite for hard launches and quick, positive engagement off the line, while enabling significantly higher torque capacity - ideal for powerful race cars.
As a core element of the modular SACHS RCS 184 clutch system, it is tailored for motorsport - from rally and autocross to circuit racing.
SACHS RCS hub
SACHS RCS 184 7.8 clutch discs are available with multiple spline/hub profiles precisely matched to the gearbox input shaft. This ensures perfect fit, secure torque transfer and maximum durability in competition.
Hubs are offered in different lengths (short, medium, long) to suit packaging and release geometry. The modular RCS 184 concept enables a tailored racing clutch with low inertia, maximum performance and long life.
Quality Made in Germany
ZF Race Engineering has been among the technology leaders in motorsport for years. The combined know-how from top-level racing flows directly into the development of RCS racing clutches. State-of-the-art manufacturing methods, the highest quality standards and motorsport technologies make ZF Motorsport clutches the first choice for maximum performance and reliability - on circuits as well as in rallying, touring and endurance racing.
