Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
SACHS Motorsport Clutch
RCS 2/200 S7.8
Sintered metal 7.8 mm, rigid hub
The twin-plate SACHS RCS 2/200 by ZF Motorsport delivers high endurance, precise modulation and consistent lap times. Its high-strength forged-aluminium cover keeps weight low and stiffness high for stable operating temperatures - ideal for endurance racing, rally and demanding track-day builds.
It uses 7.8 mm sintered-pad drive plates at 200 mm diameter. The larger friction area and wear reserve raise torque capacity and thermal stability, smoothing temperature spikes and keeping a precise bite point over repeated race starts and long stints. This spec transmits up to 1,665 Nm engine torque with repeatable, finely controllable engagement under extreme load.
Pressure and intermediate plates are supplied exclusively in high-strength steel. Compared with cast parts, steel handles mechanical and thermal peaks far better and is fully start-proof - perfect for standing starts, intense pit-cycle use and repeated full-load launches.

Advantages
High wear volume
High temperature resistance
Long operational life
Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.
The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.
Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.

Faster Acceleration
If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.
As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

The Technology
Technical data RCS 2/200:
- Max engine torque [Nm]: 1,665
- Release diameter [mm]: 49
- Release load [N]: 3,700
- Release travel [mm]: 5.0 +0.5
- Mass (weight) [kg]: 4.52
- Inertia [kgm2]: 0.02956
Clutch cover
The ZF Motorsport RCS 200 cover is forged from high-strength aluminium for maximum stiffness at minimum weight. Its geometry aids heat rejection and stabilises the clutch pack’s temperature window.
A standout feature is the extremely wear-resistant, patented aluminium hard-coating. This full-surface treatment cuts frictional and fit wear, protects against corrosion and supports long service life.
Friction - sintered metal
The RCS 2/200 uses sintered-pad plates with 7.8 mm friction thickness. The added thickness increases wear volume and thermal capacity, reducing local hot spots and the risk of fade or distortion while keeping the friction level stable over long cycles.
Sintered friction delivers a very direct response with hard launches and a fast, clearly defined bite at race starts.
SACHS RCS hub
RCS 2/200 S7.8 clutches are available with multiple hub splines precisely matched to the gearbox input shaft for optimum fit, reliable torque transfer and durability in competition.
Hubs are also offered in several lengths (short, medium, long) to suit package space and actuation. The modular RCS 200 platform enables a tailored racing clutch with maximum performance, thermal headroom and service life. Standard hub spec for RCS 2/200 (unless noted): long–long.

Installation instructions:
As SACHS RCS clutches have not been developed specifically for a vehicle, but are vehicle-independent, the vehicle must be adapted to the clutch (see PDF documents above). The contour of the flywheel, the position, the travel and the shape of the release mechanism as well as the maximum available installation space must be checked and adapted if necessary.
Required information:
When ordering your SACHS RCS clutch, the required profile of the transmission input shaft must be specified. The different profiles offered are listed under „hub profile“. If you have any questions about the product, please do not hesitate to contact us via E-Mail or by telephone on +49 (0)40 / 3999 211.
