Designed to make a
difference
SACHS motorsport clutches from ZF Race Engineering have delivered front-running performance in international racing for decades - always pushing development and redefining what is possible. From the lightest Formula 1 racing clutch to proven multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally, ZF Motorsport technology drives championship-winning cars worldwide. At the same time, SACHS has long been an OE supplier of organic clutches to leading car makers - real-world know-how that flows into every racing clutch system.
SACHS racing clutch
RCS 1/184 O7.8
Organic 7,8 mm, rigid design
The SACHS RCS 1/184 racing clutch with organic 7,8-mm lining combines high durability with excellent modulation. The organic friction lining engages smoothly and predictably, reduces driveline shock, and delivers a calm, repeatable pedal feel - ideal for slalom, rally and demanding track day cars.
The increased lining thickness adds wear reserve and stabilizes the bite point across many temperature and load cycles within the organic operating window. In this configuration, up to 883 Nm maximum engine torque is achievable. The clutch cover (housing) made of high-strength forged aluminum keeps weight low and stiffness high for consistent conditions and supports efficient heat dissipation.
The pressure plate is supplied exclusively in high-strength steel. Compared to cast iron, steel withstands mechanical and thermal peaks significantly better and is fully launch-capable - ideal for standing starts, intensive pit stop cycles and repeated full-load runs.

Advantages
Easy on the transmission
Soft clutch engagement
Low wear on the flywheel friction surface
Less Mass
One of the greatest strengths of the RCS sintered clutch is its low mass and the associated low mass inertia.
The SACHS RCS clutches have been designed for racing with the objective that torque is transmitted rapidly and directly from the engine to the gearbox.
Reducing the weight of the crankshaft drive to lower the moment of inertia will considerably increase vehicle acceleration performance in the lower gears.

Faster Acceleration
If the clutch itself has a moment of inertia (MoI) of 0.061 kgm2, the MoI on the drive wheel will be 180 times higher (in first gear) for a reduction in transmission of 13.4:1 (13.42). If we convert this value into vehicle mass, we arrive around 145 kg of additional weight to be accelerated in first gear.
As a result of the low moment of inertia of the SACHS RCS clutch, shifting times are considerably reduced and the vehicle accelerates much faster.

Clutch cover (housing)
The SACHS RCS 184 clutch cover (housing) from ZF Motorsport is made from high-strength forged aluminum and is designed for maximum stiffness at minimal weight. The special housing geometry supports efficient heat dissipation and stabilizes the clutch pack's temperature window.
A key feature is the extremely wear-resistant, patented aluminum coating. This full-surface hard coating reduces friction and fit wear, protects against corrosion and ensures long service life.
Clutch lining - Organic
Organic friction lining stands for maximum drivability: it builds grip progressively, allows fine modulation and lowers NVH effects (noise/vibration/harshness). The result is a calm, repeatable bite point with precise slip control - ideal for clean launches, traction out of slow corners and consistent lap times.
The softer, fiber-reinforced matrix generates lower load spikes in the drivetrain. Gearbox, differential and joints are protected, tires are stressed less harshly. Within the intended temperature window, the coefficient of friction remains stable, wear distributes evenly, and pedal characteristics stay constant over many cycles - predestined for track day, club sport and endurance with focus on control rather than maximum launch aggression.
SACHS RCS hub
The SACHS RCS 1/184 O7.8 racing clutches from ZF Motorsport are available with different hub profiles precisely matched to the respective gearbox input shaft. This guarantees perfect fit, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability in hard racing use.
In addition, hubs are available in various length versions (short, medium, long). This allows the clutch to be adapted to the available installation space and ensures correct actuation. The modular RCS 200 system from ZF Motorsport enables a tailor-made racing clutch with maximum performance, thermal stability and service life. Standard version of the RCS 1/184 clutch (unless otherwise specified): hub length long.

Installation instructions:
As SACHS RCS clutches have not been developed specifically for a vehicle, but are vehicle-independent, the vehicle must be adapted to the clutch (see PDF documents above). The contour of the flywheel, the position, the travel and the shape of the release mechanism as well as the maximum available installation space must be checked and adapted if necessary.
Required information:
When ordering your SACHS RCS clutch, the required profile of the transmission input shaft must be specified. The different profiles offered are listed under „hub profile“.
