SACHS RCS 184 / RCS 200 Release Rings
Release rings for axial adjustment of release bearing and racing clutch
SACHS RCS racing clutches from ZF Motorsport are not designed for one specific vehicle and must be adapted to the available installation space of the respective vehicle. Release rings are used to correctly set the axial position of the release bearing or clutch slave cylinder relative to the diaphragm spring of the racing clutch.
The release rings are mounted on the diaphragm spring of the SACHS RCS clutch. They allow the use of a release bearing or slave cylinder with a flat contact face and are especially relevant when a production release bearing with a flat contact surface is used.

Version
System: SACHS RCS racing clutch
Component: release ring
Fits: SACHS RCS 184 and RCS 200 clutch covers with 1 diaphragm spring
Function: axial adjustment of the position of release bearing or clutch slave cylinder
Contact face: suitable for release bearings and slave cylinders with flat contact face
Diaphragm spring contact diameter: Ø 49 mm
Nominal thickness A: 5.0 mm to 30.0 mm
Note: Selection is based on the required axial position, clutch version, release bearing, clutch slave cylinder, flywheel, gearbox and available installation space.

Benefits
Targeted axial adjustment of release bearing or clutch slave cylinder
Suitable for SACHS RCS 184 and SACHS RCS 200 racing clutches
Allows the use of release bearings with a flat contact face
Important when production release bearings with flat contact surface are used
Various nominal thicknesses for adaptation to clutch, flywheel and gearbox
Supports a defined bearing position and reproducible clutch actuation

Technology
Release ring & bearing position
Function: The release ring changes the axial contact position of the release bearing relative to the diaphragm spring. This allows the SACHS RCS racing clutch to be adapted to the available installation space of the vehicle.
Application: The ring is mounted on the diaphragm spring of the clutch and forms a defined contact face for release bearings or clutch slave cylinders with flat contact face.
Nominal thickness A: Dimension A describes the nominal thickness of the release ring. Different heights are available depending on the required bearing position.
Compatibility: The release rings are intended for SACHS RCS clutch covers with diaphragm spring and Ø 49 mm diaphragm spring contact diameter.
Layout: Before installation, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, release bearing, actuation system and available installation space must be measured together.
Geometry & dimensions
Nominal thickness A
The technical drawing shows the position of the release ring on the diaphragm spring of the SACHS RCS clutch. The key dimension is nominal thickness A, which is used to set the axial position of the contact face for clutch actuation.
A: nominal thickness of the release ring
Ø 49 mm: diaphragm spring contact diameter of the matching clutch covers
Contact face: flat contact surface for release bearing or clutch slave cylinder
The correct nominal thickness is selected according to installed height, bearing position and working travel of the release system.

Note: Before installation, clutch version, diaphragm spring, diaphragm spring contact diameter, release bearing, clutch slave cylinder and installed height must be checked technically.
Installation notes
Installation & layout
Measurement: Before installation, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, release bearing and actuation system must be measured together. Nominal thickness A must match the required axial position of the release bearing.
Contact face: The release ring is especially relevant when a release bearing or clutch slave cylinder with flat contact face is used.
Working travel: After selecting the release ring, the remaining working travel of the release system must be checked. The release bearing must not be permanently preloaded or driven mechanically to its stop during operation.
Compatibility: The listed release rings are intended for SACHS RCS 184 / RCS 200 clutch covers with diaphragm spring and Ø 49 mm diaphragm spring contact diameter.
Installation: The release ring must be positioned cleanly on the diaphragm spring and fixed according to the technical specifications. Contact faces, screws, clearance and runout must be checked before operation.
Inspection: In case of wear, uneven actuation, noise or implausible pedal travel, the complete actuation system must be assessed together with clutch, release ring and bearing.
