SACHS RCS 184 Clutch Pressure Plate
Service pressure plate for SACHS RCS 184 S2.6 multi-plate racing clutches
The SACHS RCS 184 clutch pressure plate is a central pressure element of the modular RCS 184 racing clutch from ZF Motorsport. It transfers the diaphragm spring force to the friction pack and, together with clutch discs, intermediate plates and clutch cover, ensures the defined clamp load of the clutch.
This product group includes the matching pressure plates for SACHS RCS 184 S2.6 clutches. Selection is based on the specific configuration of the racing clutch: the decisive factor is whether the clutch is designed as a 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-disc system. Only the correctly assigned pressure plate ensures that installation height, release travel, clamp load and wear window remain within the intended system parameters.
Manufactured from high-strength steel with a precisely machined friction surface, the SACHS RCS 184 pressure plate is designed for high mechanical and thermal loads in motorsport. It is used as a service and overhaul component when the existing pressure plate must be replaced due to wear, distortion, hotspots or damage.
When overhauling a SACHS RCS 184 racing clutch, pressure plate, intermediate plates, clutch discs and friction surfaces should always be evaluated as a complete system. This keeps the torque capacity, pedal feel, release behaviour and shift precision of the racing clutch reproducible.

Selection by clutch configuration
The correct SACHS RCS 184 pressure plate is selected according to the number of discs in the existing 2.6 mm sintered metal racing clutch. This keeps the pressure plate precisely matched to the clutch pack, friction lining thickness and system height.

Technology
RCS 184 pressure plate
Function: The pressure plate transfers the diaphragm spring force to clutch discs and intermediate plates. It clamps the friction pack against the corresponding friction partner and therefore influences clamp load, torque capacity, release behaviour and shift precision of the SACHS RCS 184 racing clutch.
Design: The component is made from high-strength steel with a precisely machined friction surface. Geometry, thickness and contact surface are matched to the RCS 184 size and the respective S2.6 clutch configuration.
System setup: The pressure plate may only be combined with approved RCS 184 clutch discs, intermediate plates, clutch covers and matching installation dimensions. Deviating combinations can negatively affect clamp load, actuation behaviour and service life.
Quality standard: Manufactured according to ZF Motorsport specification with tight tolerances for runout, thickness and surface quality. This supports even loading of the friction pack under motorsport conditions.
Overhaul & service
When overhauling a SACHS RCS 184 racing clutch, the pressure plate should always be evaluated together with clutch discs, intermediate plates and the corresponding friction surfaces. Individual wear patterns can indicate thermal overload, uneven surface pressure or a system height that is no longer correct.
Typical inspection points include runout, thickness, surface condition, hotspots, scoring, thermal discoloration and mechanical damage. If wear is outside the permissible tolerance, the affected friction pairing should be replaced in line with the system requirements.
Correct service preserves the defined clamp load, clean release, reproducible engagement and operating reliability of the SACHS RCS 184 racing clutch.
