Designed to make a
difference
ZF Race Engineering's SACHS motorsport clutches have stood for top-tier quality in international racing for decades. The ambition: continuous improvement and the drive to keep pushing the limits. From the lightest clutch used in Formula 1 to proven twin-plate and multi-plate systems in WRC, DTM, NASCAR, Le Mans and the Dakar Rally - ZF Motorsport technology is a core component of many winning cars worldwide.
Clutch Disc
SACHS RCS 184 5.2
Sintered metal 5.2 mm, rigid design
The SACHS RCS 184 5.2 sintered clutch disc combines low rotational inertia with a solid wear reserve. At 5.2 mm lining thickness, it sits between ultra-light 2.6 mm and extra-robust 7.8 mm variants - ideal where fast response and durability are equally critical.
Compared with 2.6 mm discs, the 5.2 mm option offers noticeably more material reserve and higher thermal stability, yet stays lighter and more agile than a 7.8 mm disc. Perfect for standing starts and mixed-duty competition without sacrificing precise engagement.
With its 184 mm diameter, it also sits between the compact RCS 140 and the large-format RCS 200. While the 140 excels with minimal rotating mass and the 200 with maximum reserves, the RCS 184 5.2 is the balanced choice: more thermal capacity and wear resistance than 140 mm, yet more compact and reactive than a 200 mm disc.
Riveted sinter pads on the carrier plate ensure consistent friction, high temperature stability and reliable torque transfer. The RCS 184 5.2 is the right pick for competitors seeking a balanced mix of robustness, torque capacity and agility - on circuit, in rally or demanding sprint disciplines.

Benefits at a glance:
High transferable torque
High thermal capacity
Large wear reserve
Very resistant to dirt
Long service life

The technology
Clutch lining - sintered metal
The SACHS RCS 184 5.2 sintered clutch disc from ZF Motorsport is built for competition use: far greater heat resistance than organic linings, high-rpm stability and low sensitivity to dirt and oil.
Sintered friction material delivers an aggressive bite with hard launches and crisp engagement off the line. It also handles significantly higher torque - ideal for high-output race cars.
As a core element of the modular SACHS RCS 184 clutch system, it is matched to motorsport - from rally and autocross to circuit racing.
SACHS RCS hub
SACHS RCS 184 5.2 competition discs are available with multiple hub splines precisely matched to the gearbox input shaft - for perfect fit, reliable torque transfer and maximum durability under race conditions.
Hubs are offered in different lengths (short, medium, long) to fit the available bellhousing space and ensure correct actuation. The modular RCS 184 concept enables a tailored race clutch with maximum performance, thermal stability and service life.
Quality Made in Germany
ZF Race Engineering has been among the technology leaders in motorsport for years. The combined know-how from top-level racing flows directly into the development of RCS racing clutches. State-of-the-art manufacturing methods, the highest quality standards and motorsport technologies make ZF Motorsport clutches the first choice for maximum performance and reliability - on circuits as well as in rallying, touring and endurance racing.
