The BMW X1 debuted in 2009 as the E84 with classic rear-wheel drive based on the 3 Series platform, before the F48 from 2015 switched to the front-wheel drive UKL platform. The xDrive 23d with 204 PS from the four-cylinder diesel was the most powerful diesel variant of the X1 E84 with impressive torque. The BMW X2 (F39) joined the range from 2017 as a sporty-dynamic crossover variant with a coupé-like roofline.
