The 1.6 THP turbocharged engine from the Prince engine family, jointly developed by PSA and BMW, combined direct injection with variable valve timing for lively throttle response. Through DS Virgin Racing and later DS Techeetah in Formula E, the brand won the championship in 2018/19 and 2019/20, underlining its technological ambition.
