The BMW 1 Series has offered BMW-typical driving pleasure in the compact segment since 2004 — with rear-wheel drive in the E8x and F2x, and modern front-wheel drive from the F40. The M140i with the B58 3.0-litre turbo six-cylinder and 340 PS was the last rear-wheel-drive six-cylinder compact BMW — a future classic. Even with four-cylinder engines, the 1 Series delivered a driving experience that led the class, thanks to its sporty suspension and direct steering.
