The BMW 1 Series has brought BMW driving pleasure to the compact segment since 2004 — uniquely with rear-wheel drive in the E8x and F2x generations. The 135i with the N54/N55 turbo six-cylinder producing up to 306 PS was a wolf in sheep's clothing — a compact rear-driver with sports car performance. The six-cylinder variants transformed the compact 1 Series into a genuine sports car — an inline-six in a compact package was a BMW exclusive.
