The Audi A4 B7 from 2004, as an evolution of the B6, expanded the V6 diesel offering with new TDI engines featuring common-rail technology. The 2.5-litre V6 TDI with 120 kW was the transitional diesel engine in the B7 before being replaced by the new 2.7 and 3.0 TDI. Meanwhile, the RS4 B7 proved with its 420 PS naturally aspirated V8 that even in the turbo era, a high-revving NA engine had its place in performance motoring.
