The Audi A4 B5 replaced the Audi 80 in 1994 as the first model with the A4 designation, offering compelling powertrains also in the diesel segment. The 2.5-litre V6 TDI with 110 kW (150 PS) was the only six-cylinder diesel in the B5 range, offering effortless torque with V6 refinement. The B5 shared the PL45 platform with the VW Passat B5, though Audi used a longitudinal engine layout with its own independent front axle design.
