The BMW X3 debuted in 2003 as the E83 — BMW's first compact premium SUV based on the 3 Series. The xDrive 20i with its four-cylinder petrol engine and all-wheel drive offered the most affordable AWD entry to the X3. The first generation, initially criticised for its firm ride, was later refined, while the F25 from 2010 perfected the concept with significantly more comfort.
