The BMW X1 launched in 2009 as the brand's most compact SAV: the E84 still on the rear-wheel drive 3 Series base, the F48 from 2015 on the more efficient UKL front-wheel drive platform. The sDrive 20i with 184 PS offered sporty performance with rear-wheel drive — the dynamic tip for petrol enthusiasts. The BMW X2 (F39) arrived in 2017 as a sportier crossover variant with a lower roofline and more dynamic design.
