The BMW F3x generation (3 Series and 4 Series from 2011) marked the transition to the all-turbo era and offered a standalone 4 Series for the first time. The 340i with the B58 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six and 326 PS was the sportiest regular 3 Series variant, offering near-M-car performance. The turbocharged six-cylinder engines in the F3x range combined high performance with previously unmatched efficiency — proof that downsizing need not come at the expense of driving pleasure.
