The BMW F3x range (3 Series/4 Series from 2011) set new efficiency standards in the premium segment with the switch to exclusively turbocharged engines. The 320i with its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 184 PS offered a balanced entry to the F3x world. The four-cylinder turbo engines in the F3x generation delivered performance on par with previous six-cylinders thanks to advanced turbocharging — at significantly lower fuel consumption.
