The BMW F3x generation (3 Series and 4 Series from 2011) marked the transition to the all-turbo era and offered a standalone 4 Series for the first time. The 335i with the N55 turbo six-cylinder and 306 PS was the most powerful standard engine in the early F30 generation. The turbocharged six-cylinder engines in the F3x range combined high performance with previously unmatched efficiency — proof that downsizing need not come at the expense of driving pleasure.
