The Audi Quattro — the legendary Ur-Quattro — revolutionised motorsport and the entire automotive industry with permanent all-wheel drive from 1980. The 2.1-litre five-cylinder with 20-valve technology and turbocharging produced 306 PS in the Sport Quattro road version — a sensational output for the early 1980s from a compact powerplant. Michele Mouton became the first woman to win a WRC rally at the 1981 Sanremo Rally driving the Quattro, while Walter Roehrl dominated the 1987 Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the Sport Quattro S1.
