The Audi A4 B6 was based on the completely new PL46 platform from 2000 and offered confident performance in the upper mid-range with its V6 engines. The 3.0-litre V6 quattro with up to 162 kW (220 PS) and permanent all-wheel drive was the most powerful regular six-cylinder variant in the B6. With no RS4 on the B6 platform, the S4 with its all-aluminium 4.2-litre V8 producing 344 PS was the unmatched flagship.
