As a comprehensive evolution of the B6, the Audi A4 B7 from 2004 brought numerous technical improvements and a more distinctive design. The S4 B7 carried over the proven all-aluminium 4.2-litre V8 with 253 kW (344 PS) from its B6 predecessor, continuing to offer V8 power in the mid-size segment. On the race track, the A4 B7 in DTM specification was one of the most successful touring cars of its era, claiming five DTM titles between 2004 and 2011.
