The Audi A4 B7 from 2004, as a comprehensively revised B6, also brought a generational change in the diesel segment — the new 2.0 TDI replaced the proven 1.9 TDI as the main diesel engine. The 2.0 TDI 16V with 103 kW was the four-valve version of the new two-litre diesel, offering improved gas exchange efficiency through four valves per cylinder. On the race track, the B7 generation in DTM form was one of the most successful touring cars of the 2000s, with titles in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011.
