The BMW 'Neue Klasse' (1962–1972) saved BMW from a takeover by Daimler-Benz in the 1960s and established an engineering tradition with the M10 engine that made BMW the sporting saloon brand. The 3.0 CSi with 200 PS and Bosch D-Jetronic injection was the most technically advanced version of the E9 Coupé. Without the Neue Klasse, BMW as we know it today would not exist — it was the turning point that transformed the brand from a marginal manufacturer into a global corporation.
