ZF Race Engineering has been valued for many years as a supplier of racing clutches and running gear by the teams taking part in the DTM race series, and has contributed to many victories. See also the DTM anniversary video for the 100th anniversary of ZF SACHS.
All Audi, BMW and Mercedes racing teams in the most popular international touring car series use the ZF SACHS clutch. Based on the Racing Clutch System (RCS), the carbon clutch has 4-carbon clutch discs with a diameter of 140mm. Like the Formula 1 clutch, the transmittable engine torque can go up to 900 Nm. The SACHS carbon clutch from ZF Motorsport weighs 3 kg, i.e. only about 20% of a comparably strong series clutch.
The DTM clutch is characterised by high-quality materials, such as the special clutch housing made of heat-resistant steel, great reliability and an exceptional service life. The knowledge gained from motorsport flows directly into the SACHS performance clutch for use on the road.
