The Audi A4 B5 was the first model to carry the A4 name, succeeding the Audi 80 in 1994. The RS4 B5 was available exclusively as an Avant — its Cosworth-developed 2.7-litre V6 biturbo produced 380 PS, and with only approximately 6,030 units built, it is a highly sought-after collector's item today. At the 1996 BTCC, Frank Biela won the Drivers' Championship and Audi the Manufacturers' title — Audi won all seven national touring car championships they entered, leading to AWD being banned from touring car racing.
