The BMW 3 Series (E36) continued the sporty mid-size tradition from 1990 to 1999 and offered a Compact variant (ti) for the first time. The 325i with 192 PS delivered the classic BMW six-cylinder character and was one of the most popular engine choices in the E36 range. The E36's inline-six engines were considered the benchmark for refinement and rev-happiness in the mid-size class of the 1990s.
