The BMW F3x range (3 Series/4 Series from 2011) set new efficiency standards in the premium segment with the switch to exclusively turbocharged engines. The 316d/316i was the economical entry to the F3x world, proving that efficiency and BMW driving pleasure are compatible. The four-cylinder turbo engines in the F3x generation delivered performance on par with previous six-cylinders thanks to advanced turbocharging — at significantly lower fuel consumption.
