The BMW E9 Coupés (1965–1976) rank among the most elegant GT cars of their era and produced one of motorsport's greatest legends with the 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile'. This engine variant belongs to the legendary era of early post-war BMW models that laid the foundation for today's brand identity. The flowing lines of the E9 by designer Wilhelm Hofmeister, including the 'Hofmeister kink' named after him, continue to define BMW's design language to this day.
