The BMW 1 Series has brought BMW driving pleasure to the compact segment since 2004 — uniquely with rear-wheel drive in the E8x and F2x generations. The 130i with the N52 3.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and 265 PS was an insider tip for purists — six-cylinder pleasure in BMW's most compact package. The six-cylinder variants transformed the compact 1 Series into a genuine sports car — an inline-six in a compact package was a BMW exclusive.
