The BMW F3x range (3 Series/4 Series from 2011) set new efficiency standards in the premium segment with the switch to exclusively turbocharged engines. The 320d with its four-cylinder diesel producing up to 190 PS was the best-selling F3x variant — efficient, dynamic and built for long distances. The four-cylinder turbo engines in the F3x generation delivered performance on par with previous six-cylinders thanks to advanced turbocharging — at significantly lower fuel consumption.
