With its record drag coefficient of Cd 0.30 at launch in 1982 and the first fully galvanized Audi body from 1985, the 100 C3 was a technical milestone. The 2.2-litre five-cylinder with catalytic converter and 137 PS offered full five-cylinder character with reduced emissions. The flush-mounted windows of the C3 were an industry innovation and contributed to the lowest drag coefficient of any production sedan.
