The Ford Mondeo replaced the Sierra in 1993 and was the European mid-size benchmark for nearly three decades before production ended in 2022. This engine variant complemented the extensive Mondeo range, which spanned from economical fleet diesels through comfortable touring saloons to the sporting ST version. Developed by Ford of Europe in Cologne, the Mondeo defined the mid-size class with its combination of space, safety, and surprisingly dynamic handling for its class.
